Let's take a trip down Queer Memory lane shall we?
Words from our founder, Jack: Brattleboro Queer Dance Party got our start in 2017 at Metropolis Bar at 55 Elliot street. The Location is now home to The Collective Lounge. The first event was a collaboration between @money_intoinette @johnjack_artmaker and @wooly_mar. That first night we had no idea what would happen but the word got out. It was a snowy and very cold night and metro was full by 9pm and the doors and windows got so fogged up the party and Vibe was so incredible. People were like why has this not been a thing? If you were at the first Queer Dance Party comment below with one to three words to describe your night!
Now, BQDP is a thriving dance party and cabaret happening on the 4th Friday of even months at The Stone Church on Main St. Curated by Patty Cake in collaboration with integral members of our beloved queer community here in Brattleboro, each party is a night to remember. Thumping DJ sets, attendees who costume for the theme to its full realization every time, sassy and heart-stopping drag, burlesque, and performance art, a gorgeous space with vaulted ceilings and the smoothest dance floors, all intersect to bring our queer community together.
